At Huntercombe, Andy Pollock (5) and Gerald Woods (18) won the Robert Walker Foursomes Cup with 31 points over 15 holes.
I owe a profuse apology to John Godby (I 56-61), of celebrated reach (both as a goalkeeper and as a member of the crew that won the Princess Elizabeth Cup at Henley in 1961) for omitting to record his victory at Luffness with 38 points on our Scottish Tour in 2008.
It is my sad duty to record the deaths of the following members:
Graham Carnegie (M 36-41), Eric Dehn (CWM 29-35), Gavin Haig (CWM 29-34) and John Matthews (JHT 35-40).
Let us salute Hugh Ramsbotham on his election as President of The Old Salopian Club for 2010 and our very own President, Ian Campion, on his election as Captain of the Seniors' Golfing Society for 2010.
Cognoscenti will see in the Fasti that at long last we include a pilgrimage to Hunstanton and the Royal West Norfolk Club at Brancaster on April 27th and 28th. In the same week, there is the Yorkshire meeting at the Alwoodley, followed by a dinner in honour of Jeremy Goulding, with the new President of the Old Salopian Club in the Chair. Tweaks should note that the Society's Championship will be played on Sunday morning of 20th June at Blackwell, thanks to the good offices of Angus Pollock.
I wish to express my wamest gratitude to all those who help me with shouldering the bag that is The Old Salopian Golfing Society: Sandy Bell, Rob Bennett, Ian Campion, Jonty Campion, Dan Graham, Henry Howard, Bill Higson, Robert Lanyon, Paul Nichols, Anthony Parsons, Angus Pollock, Nick Randall, Jonathan Russell, Stephen Shaw, Gerald Smith, Christopher Wallace, David Warmington, Ian White and Peter Worth. Not since Charles Darwin studied the turtles on the Galapagos has there been so much Salopian intent for matters immemorial.
May I wish members all health and happiness for 2010 and may I thank you for your continued support for OSGS. Our membership stands at 362 members.
Tim Lewis - Honorary Secretary.

The Rules remain as follows:
All members of OSGS will be eligible to play.
There will be a limit on handicap of 20.
The name on the top of each match in the draw is responsible for contacting the opponent.
The name on the top of each match has choice of venue: if on home turf, the opponent receives two extra strokes, after full difference of handicap has been agreed. Green fees may be shared.
Yellow tees rather than medal tees should be used: those over 70 years may choose to play off forward tees.
6 weeks will elapse between the first and second and third rounds: if not played by the due date, the Hon Secretary will decide the match on the toss of a coin.
Entries close by 2nd February 2010. The draw based on a regional basis will take place on 9th February.
The final will take place on a prestigious course, with expenses paid by OSGS.
